Hello,
Well, it sure feels like fall is here, I hope we have a little more nice weather. This past week, my parents and Matt & Alicia went camping at La Conner and Sun Lakes respectively. I got to stay at home and remember to water the plants. It was nice to have a little alone time.
Last Wednesday, I took my Korean friend Go-Eun to Pal-Do World, a Korean market in Lynnwood. Her eyes lit up brighter than headlights when she saw all the Korean products inside. We also stopped off at my friend Ed Park’s restaurant in Lynnwood, Edina Sushi. Go-Eun is still adjusting to life in Seattle, but it seems to be getting easier for her.
On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, I met some friends for coffee and lunch. It was a good chance to catch up w/ my step-uncle Ron and my new Korean friends Robert and Ed. I also went to an Everett Aquasox game on Saturday w/ my friend Bill. My sister has a client that’s a co-owner of the team and had given her a voucher for tickets at any game. Bill and I enjoyed the game slightly to the right of home plate. After the game, Bill and I ate at a new Korean restaurant in Lynnwood.
It’s been great making new connections and friends since I got back from Korea. Talking w/ my friends new and old has been great and helped me to think through my experiences since then and to put my time in Korea in proper perspective. The more I share about it, the more I realize the impact that it had on my life. I felt that before the trip, I was on an anchored ship going nowhere; now I feel that I’m heading into unchartered waters. Only the Lord knows where the ship is heading. I’m excited though to see what the upcoming weeks and months bring.
I’ve also continued making new connections at New Life-Seattle, a English Ministry (EM) w/ mostly 2nd generation Koreans attending. It’s nice to be amongst other Korean believers, it feels very natural. This past Sunday, I met Ty, a fellow adoptee from Korea and a nice guy too. I’ve also signed up for the EM’s retreat to Camp Casey on Whidbey Island in two weeks. It should be a great way to continue to get to know new friends and to deepen my roots w/ my new brothers and sisters in Christ.
Tomorrow, I’ll get a chance to share at Mill Creek’s men’s group, the Foundation, about my experiences in Korea. I’m really excited about this and look forward to letting these men know all about my travels overseas. Well, that’s it for now, so take care and enjoy the Indian summer.
Prayer Square: Well, I’m at the point where I’ve talked to a lot of people about my short-term future. Most people have been supportive and had great advice/ideas. Now, please pray that God would lead me in the way I ought to go in terms of work. I know the Lord will open up doors and close other ones. I’ll keep you posted on this.
