Autumn Time

Hello,

Well, today was a gorgeous day.  I’ve had a busy last week and a half.  Last Wednesday, I took my friend Go-Eun again to Pal-Do World and then to lunch.  Saturday, I started my Korean language class w/ United Bellevue-Seattle Korean School (UBSKS).  I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it turned out there were 3 students: myself, the teacher’s husband, and a mother of a Korean adoptee girl.  The book they use emphasizes more conversation and listening, not so much grammar; the class should be perfect for where I’m at now.  It meets for 5 months every Saturday from 9-12.  I excited for the class.

After the class, I went to the annual Korean Cultural Celebration down at the Seattle Center House.  It’s also called the Chusok Festival, basically a day to give thanksgiving for the fall harvest.  They had troupes in traditional clothing doing fan dances, playing Korean drums, and a few other things.  There were also Korean fine arts: paper art, traditional food, a display in the art gallery, and a gentleman writing in the Korean calligraphy.  It was terrific and always good for Seattle to experience more of Korean culture.

This fall, I’ll be involved w/ a coffeehouse that meets at UPC on Thursday nights.  On Sunday, I went overnight at Camp Sambica, in Bellevue, for some training w/ Campus Crusade For Christ; coffeehouse is through them.  It was a great chance to meet some student and staff leaders of Crusade and to hear what they believe and how they go about their ministry.  The food was also great.  The coffeehouse starts in 2 weeks, so I’m looking forward to meeting some new students.

Tomorrow, I’ll leave for the summer retreat w/ my church at Camp Casey on Whidbey Island.  It will be through the entire weekend and should be a great way to really cement my involvement in the church, but also a great way to get to know everyone.  Whidbey Island is very beautiful and it should be a time to really sense God through the speaker, music, and scenery.

Well, hope you all have a great rest of your week and into your weekend.  See ya all.
